KYUEM students produce three of the world's top students
in 2004 A-Level examinations

Three
of Kolej Yayasan UEM's (KYUEM) students emerged as the world's
top students. They are Liyana Nadirah Abd Rahman, Tan Sin
Yi and Wilson Tay Tze Vern. Liyana Nadirah top-scored in Accounting,
Tan Sin Yi in Literature in English and Wilson Tay Tze Vern
in History.
For their incredible achievement, Liyana Nadirah was awarded
the Malaysia Business Open Scholarship while Tan Sin Yi bagged
the Malaysia English Open Scholarship by Cambridge International

Examinations.
Another of KYUEM's student, Saravanan Nagappan, emerged as
the topstudent in Computing in Malaysia. KYUEM emerged as
one of the top centers for the June 2004 Cambridge A-Level
examinations, with 45.9 percent scoring three or more A's.
One would need at least two A's to get into a university that
is very high up in the UK league table. On this score, 70
percent of KYUEM's 2004 graduating class fell into this category.

The
wonderful individual achievements of KYUEM's top students
this year improved on last year's, when Tan Chin Lik triumphed
as world's top student in Biology. Most deservedly he is now
pursuing a degree in Medicine at the University of Cambridge.
This year, five more have been selected to read Medicine,
Engineering, Law and Mathematics at Cambridge. In addition
to producing excellent results consistently in the CIE A-Level
Examinations since 1990, KYUEM has also had a 90 percent success
rate in placing their students, mainly in the top ten UK universities
and the Irish Universities Medical Consortium.
Universities have also noticed that KYUEM alumni tend to stand
out among their peers. Recently, the Vice Chancellor of the
University of Southampton made special mention of KYUEM in his
speech at the University's graduation ceremony for the rare
feat of producing eight first class graduates in the same year
in the Department of Electronics and Computer Science.
Many of its alumni in other universities passed with first
class honours as well. This includes four at the London School
of Economics (Accounting and Finance), four at Imperial College
(Engineering), four at University College, London and one
at the University of Lancaster (Accounting).
