Choosing
a university and a course of study is the most difficult decision
that all students at this level have to face. The process
of reaching a decision about higher education is long and
involved. It should not be rushed. The student must make a
sensible assessment of his or her academic ability in consultation
with teachers and apply to universities where he or she has
a reasonable chance of gaining a place. Our counsellors will
help students with this decision making process.
There is no difficulty about applying with A-Levels to universities
in the UK, the USA, Canada, New Zealand or Australia. They
are an internationally recognised qualification and syllabuses
are highly regarded by admissions tutors.
The staff of Kolej Yayasan UEM have considerable experience
in helping students to write applications to foreign universities.
We can advise on General Papers, SATs, internationally recognized
English exams and many other matters. We have close links
with the educational offices of various countries in Kuala
Lumpur.
Visiting academics come to the college regularly. KYUEM is
building close links with overseas universities, particularly
in the UK, and we are able to give sound advice on university
placement and scholarships.
We offer a wealth of pastoral experience to our students and
are able to advise, monitor, discuss and report upon progress.
When students join us at KYUEM, they also become members of
one of our four houses. Each house is led by a Housemistress
and a Housemaster who are assisted by Housetutors. The houses
are part of our array of services: counseling, academic, medical,
administrative and co-curricular which ensures that there
is always someone to turn to, always someone from whom expert
guidance can be sought, when students face difficult choices
or encounter problems.
